THE ART HOUSE FOUNDATION

Free activities and lunch for children on free school meals & government benefit.

The Art House Foundation plays a huge part in the local community. We are lucky enough to receive funding & grants from various organisations such as National lottery community fund from their community team, Sussex Community Fund & Tesco to name a few.

We apply for these grants to enable us to run free or low cost classes for children in the arts and utilise our downstairs space which is unused on weekdays during term time.

In the past we have run cookery classes , art clubs, clay workshops , yoga classes , baby and toddler art classes , baby  & pre school music & movement classes where thousands of local children have benefited from qualified teachers running free workshops.

In addition to this we were one of the first participants of the government’s HAF scheme to be awarded funding to run holiday workshops for children on free school lunches. Again hundreds of children have benefited from our resources and expertise in a nurturing environment.

LITTLE CHELSEA

We are part of the local community.

The Art House is embedded into the local community of Little Chelsea where for the past 7 years since we opened our doors we have sat on local committees to help manage & run local events including the annual Xmas event. This led us to establish the first Food and Arts Festival in 2019 with a second event planned for July 2023 .

We also run free trails for children around the local area including an Easter bunny hunt, Halloween pumpkin trail and an elf & reindeer Xmas event. Some trails receive support from Eastbourne BID and hundreds of children have received free prizes and helped enhance the footfall in our area.

THE PANDEMIC

Hot meals for the homeless.

During the covid pandemic we also helped our local community with the support of customer donations where we fed the local ICU department at the hospital during their worst winter months during January – February 2021. We also cooked for the local homeless community and supported the local charity, Warming up the Homeless during January 2021 – April 2021 supplying a hot cooked dinner every Saturday night along with pastries and cakes for around 60 people weekly.
